Dendrocalamus longispathus, known as the long-sheath bamboo, is a member of the grass family Poaceae. It can reach heights of up to 20 meters. The species is native to Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Thailand, but has spread as an exotic species throughout South Asia.

Description

Dendrocalamus longispathus (Kurz) Kurz is a tall bamboo species in the genus Dendrocalamus. It is distributed in Assam, Bangladesh, Laos, Malaya, Myanmar, and Thailand. First described in 1875, this bamboo species is characterized by its long sheaths and is commonly found in tropical regions.
