Abies delavayi, known as Delavay's Fir, is a fir species native to high-altitude regions in southwest China, including Yunnan, as well as border areas in southeastern Tibet, far northeastern India, northern Myanmar, and far northwestern Vietnam. It grows at elevations between 3,000 and 4,000 meters, often at the tree line.

Description

Abies delavayi belongs to the genus Abies in the family Pinaceae. The species was first described by Franchet in 1899, based on a collection (Delavay no. 1210) from Yunnan. The holotype is preserved in the herbarium of the Museum de Paris (P), with two specimens (P 00748883 and P 00748884). A second-step lectotype selection was made, with P 00748883, which displays cones, designated as the lectotype.
