Arctostaphylos nortensis, known as Del Norte manzanita, is a shrub native to the mountainous regions along the Oregon-California border. It is found in Del Norte County, California, and Curry and Josephine Counties, Oregon. This species thrives in chaparral and open forest habitats at elevations between 400 and 600 meters, occasionally on serpentine soil.

Description

Arctostaphylos nortensis is a member of the Ericaceae family and is part of the genus Arctostaphylos. It is a narrow endemic species, with a limited distribution across three counties in the Pacific Northwest. The plant is adapted to specific ecological conditions, growing in chaparral and open forest environments. Its occurrence on serpentine substrates indicates a degree of tolerance for challenging soil conditions. The species was formally described in 1992 by P.V. Wells.
