Toxicoscordion paniculatum, commonly known as deadly zigadenus, is a flowering plant in the family Melanthiaceae. It is native to the western United States and parts of Mexico, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. The plant is also known by other common names such as foothill deathcamas and panicled death-camas. It is found in a range of habitats, including sagebrush plateau, grasslands, forests, and woodlands, particularly in the Great Basin region west of the Rocky Mountains.

Description

Toxicoscordion paniculatum was first described in 1903 and is part of the genus Toxicoscordion. It is a widespread species in the western U.S., often growing in both mountainous and desert environments. The plant is adapted to various ecological settings and is a notable member of the Melanthiaceae family. Its distribution includes states such as Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming, as well as parts of northern and northwestern Mexico.
