Neptunia plena (L.) Benth. is a species in the Fabaceae family, commonly known as Dead and Awake. It was first published in 1841 and is widely distributed across multiple regions, including BR, Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona, Núcleo Aceites S.A., SG, IN, MY, CN, AU, and several Colombian departments such as Antioquia, Atlántico, and Bolívar, as well as in GT, HN, SV, and other global locations.
Description
The species is associated with several specimens in the LINN herbarium, with 1228.12 and 1228.14 being referenced in discussions regarding its typification. Fawcett & Rendle (1920) noted the existence of these specimens but did not formally designate them as types. Kostermans later accepted 1228.12 as the type based on the available material. Neptunia plena is part of the genus Neptunia, which is native to tropical regions and belongs to the Fabaceae family, a major group of flowering plants.
