Daucus broteri, also known as Brotero's carrot, is a wild species of the carrot genus, native to the northeast Mediterranean and the Middle East. It is closely related to Daucus carota and is typically found in cultivated and plantation-type environments.

Description

Daucus broteri is a member of the Apiaceae family and was first described in 1830 by Ten. It shares a close taxonomic relationship with Daucus carota, the common carrot. This species is distributed across the northeast Mediterranean region and extends into the Middle East. It thrives in human-modified habitats such as cultivated fields and plantation areas. As a wild relative of the domesticated carrot, it contributes to the genetic diversity of the Daucus genus.
