Pinus dalatensis, known as Dalat Pine, is a pine species native to Indochina. It is found in Vietnam's central and south-central mountain regions at elevations between 1,400 and 2,300 meters. The largest and lowest-elevation population is located in Laos within the Nakai-Nam Theun Biodiversity Conservation Area. This species was first described in 1960 by Ferré.

Description

Pinus dalatensis is a member of the Pinaceae family and is native to Vietnam and Laos. In Vietnam, it occurs in mountainous regions of the central and south-central parts of the country. The species was only recently confirmed in Laos, where it is found in the Nakai-Nam Theun Biodiversity Conservation Area. This population is the largest and the northernmost known to date. The species was first described in 1960 by Ferré and is known by the common name Dalat Pine in both English and Vietnamese.
