Description

Cycas annaikalensis is a member of the genus Cycas, found exclusively in the Annaikal Hills near Palakkad in the Indian state of Kerala. It is critically endangered due to its limited population and restricted habitat. The species was formally described in 2006 and is one of the rarest cycads in the world. Its survival is threatened by habitat loss and its low population size makes it particularly vulnerable to extinction.
