Encephalartos hirsutus is a cycad species belonging to the family Zamiaceae. It is native to the Limpopo Province of South Africa, where it is found on south-east-facing quartzite cliffs in the Makuya Nature Reserve, near the Kruger National Park. This species grows at elevations between 800 and 1,000 meters above sea level. It was first described in 1996 by P.J.H. Hurter.
