Encephalartos barteri belongs to the genus Encephalartos and is part of the Zamiaceae family. This cycad species is distributed across parts of Africa, specifically in the countries of Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo. The species was formally published in 1868 by Carruth. ex Miq. It is one of the cycad species found in the global range of cycads, which are ancient and often slow-growing plants.
