Cycad

Dioon holmgrenii belongs to the genus Dioon and is part of the Zamiaceae family. It is native to a restricted region in the southwest of San Gabriel Mixtepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. The species was first described in 1981 by De Luca, Sabato, and Vázquez-Torres. It is referred to by the common name palma del sol and is one of the cycad species found in the Global and Mexico Southwest regions.
