Malva alcea, a member of the Malvaceae family, is a plant native to southwestern, central, and eastern Europe as well as southwestern Asia. It is found from Spain north to southern Sweden and east to Russia and Turkey. The species was first described in 1753 by Linnaeus.

Description

Commonly referred to as Cut-Leaf Mallow, Malva alcea is distributed across various regions including British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Flanders, Liechtenstein, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. It is a member of the Malvaceae family and belongs to the genus Malva. This species is also known by alternative common names such as greater musk-mallow, vervain mallow, and hollyhock mallow.
