Curtisia dentata is a flowering tree native to Southern Africa and is the only species in the genus Curtisia. It belongs to the family Curtisiaceae, a distinct family separate from its former classification in the Cornaceae family.

Description

Curtisia dentata is found in regions including the Cape Provinces, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Mozambique, Northern Provinces, St. Helena, Swaziland, and Zimbabwe. Originally grouped with dogwoods, it is now recognized as the sole representative of the Curtisiaceae family. The species was formally described in 1951.
