Rumex crispus L., commonly known as Curled Dock, is a perennial flowering plant in the family Polygonaceae. It is native to Europe and Western Asia and has been documented in numerous regions, including Newfoundland, Alberta, British Columbia, and other Canadian provinces, as well as in parts of Portugal, the Açores, Madeira, and Brazil. The species was first published in 1753.
Description
Rumex crispus belongs to the genus Rumex and is part of the Polygonaceae family, which is commonly referred to as the buckwheat family. It is widely distributed across multiple regions and has been the subject of botanical discussion, including a note by Kanodia in 1963 regarding material examined at LINN but not designated as the type. The plant is known by several common names, including Curled Dock and Yellow Dock.
