Curcuma zanthorrhiza, also known as temulawak, Java ginger, Javanese ginger, or Javanese turmeric, is a species in the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). It is found in several regions including India, Bangladesh, Borneo, Cambodia, China Southeast, Florida, Jawa, Lesser Sunda Is., Madagascar, Malaya, Maluku, Myanmar, Philippines, Santa Cruz Is., Sri Lanka, Sulawesi, and Sumatera. The plant is known by different local names such as temulawak in Javanese, koneng gede in Sundanese, and temu labak in Madurese. The scientific name is sometimes written as Curcuma xanthorrhiza, but this is an orthographical variant.

Description

Curcuma zanthorrhiza is a member of the genus Curcuma in the Zingiberaceae family. It is native to and distributed across various regions in Asia and the Pacific.
