Curcuma aromatica is a species in the genus Curcuma within the Zingiberaceae family. It is botanically similar to Curcuma australasica and is commonly known as curcuma. It is native to regions including Japan, Taiwan, Assam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, the East Himalaya, Hainan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tibet, and Vietnam. It is used as a cosmetic herbal in South Asia and surrounding areas.

Description

Curcuma aromatica is a plant species in the ginger family, Zingiberaceae. It is widely distributed across several countries in Asia, including Japan, Taiwan, Assam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, the East Himalaya, Hainan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tibet, and Vietnam. It is botanically related to Curcuma australasica and is known for its use as a cosmetic herbal in South Asia. In local languages, it is referred to as Kasthuri Manjal in Tamil and Malayalam, and bontha-pasupu in Telugu. The species was published in 2010.
