Description

Zephyranthes rosea (Lindl.), a member of the Amaryllidaceae family, is a rain lily that thrives in tropical climates. It is native to Peru and Colombia but has been introduced to many regions, including the conterminous 48 United States, the Galápagos Islands, the Bahamas, and various island groups. The plant is commonly cultivated for ornamental purposes and is recognized for its pink flowers that appear following significant rainfall. First described in 1824, it is also known by several common names, including rosy rain lily, rose fairy lily, and pink rain lily.
