Scilla peruviana, known as Cuban-lily, is a bulb-bearing herbaceous perennial in the Asparagaceae family. Native to the western Mediterranean, including Iberia, Italy, and northwest Africa, it features a white bulb with brown scales, linear leaves 20–60 cm long, and a flowering stem 15–40 cm tall. The plant produces a dense raceme of 40–100 blue flowers, each 1–2 cm in diameter with six tepals. It is distributed across Portugal, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Great Britain, the Canary Islands, Corsica, the Channel Islands, England, Scotland, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and other regions. The foliage dies back in summer and reappears in autumn.

Description

Scilla peruviana is a perennial plant with a 6–8 cm bulb and 5–15 linear leaves produced each spring. It blooms with a dense pyramidal raceme of blue flowers from a 15–40 cm tall stem. The plant is native to the western Mediterranean and has been documented in various European and North African countries. It was first described in 1753 by Linnaeus. The foliage dies down during summer and regrows in the autumn.
