Cryptolepis africana is a plant species in the Apocynaceae family, native to Kenya. It was first described by Arthur Allman Bullock as Cryptolepis sinensis subsp. africana, based on a specimen collected in East Africa. The species was later reclassified and formally published in 2007 under the current name by Venter and R.L. Verh.

Description

Cryptolepis africana belongs to the Apocynaceae family and is indigenous to Kenya. The species was initially described by Arthur Allman Bullock, who named it in reference to its East African origin. The original description used the subspecies name Cryptolepis sinensis subsp. africana. The current accepted name, Cryptolepis africana, was established in 2007 by Venter and R.L. Verh., following taxonomic revisions.
