Description
Mimetes palustris is a small shrub in the Proteaceae family, endemic to the Western Cape province of South Africa. It grows on well-drained, permanently moist sandy and peaty slopes near Hermanus. The plant has horizontal and upright shoots, with leaves that are tightly pressed together near the inflorescence, resembling a snakeskin. The inflorescence contains multiple flowerheads, each with three yellow flowers longer than the subtending leaves. It is the smallest species in the Mimetes genus. Flowering occurs year-round, with a peak in August and September. The species is critically endangered.
