Cryptanthus maritimus is a plant species belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, also known as the bromeliad family. It is part of the genus Cryptanthus, which includes several species of terrestrial bromeliads. This species is endemic to Brazil, specifically found in the Southeast region. The species was first scientifically described in 1943 by Leslie Beckwith Smith, under the authorship L.B. Sm.
