Castela emoryi is a shrub in the family Simaroubaceae, commonly known as crucifixion thorn. It is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico.

Description

Castela emoryi, known as crucifixion thorn or Emory's crucifixion-thorn, is a shrub species in the genus Castela, part of the Simaroubaceae family. The species was described in 1968 and is also referred to as chaparro amargosa in Spanish. It is a member of a plant family that includes other shrubs and trees, many of which are adapted to arid environments.
