Symphytum tauricum, commonly known as Crimean Comfrey, is a member of the Boraginaceae family. It was first described by Willd. in 1799. This species is native to various regions across Europe and parts of Asia, including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East European Russia, the Crimean region, the North Caucasus, Romania, South European Russia, the Transcaucasus, Turkey, and Ukraine.
