Crabgrass

Eleusine indica (L.) Gaertn. is a grass species native to the Poaceae family. It is widely distributed across regions including Ontario, Quebec, Açores, Madeira, Portugal Continental, Brazil, and various other locations in the Americas, Africa, and Asia. The plant is known by several common names, including Indian goosegrass, yard-grass, goosegrass, wiregrass, and crowfootgrass. It is an annual species and has been reported to spread invasively in some areas. The nomenclatural history of the species includes discussions on its type specimens, with formal typification clarified in botanical literature. The name was first published in 1788.
