Cotyledon tomentosa is a flowering plant in the Crassulaceae family, native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa. It is an evergreen shrub with thick, fuzzy green leaves and produces large orange bell-shaped flowers in spring. A notable subspecies, known as the bear's paw, is distinguished by the prominent 'teeth' at the tips of its leaves.

Description

Cotyledon tomentosa, described by Harv. in 1862, is a succulent shrub belonging to the genus Cotyledon. It is characterized by its large, ovate, fuzzy leaves and is well adapted to arid environments. The plant is known for its ornamental value, particularly the subspecies with leaf tips resembling a bear's paw. It blooms in spring with showy, orange flowers that are bell-shaped and clustered.
