Costus stenophyllus, known as bamboo costus, is a plant species native to Costa Rica. It is commonly found in forested areas, especially on ridges and steep slopes in southern Costa Rica. The plant is also cultivated for ornamental purposes in regions beyond its natural habitat.

Description

Costus stenophyllus belongs to the genus Costus in the family Costaceae. It is endemic to Costa Rica and thrives in forest environments. The species was first described in 1952 by Standl. & L.O.Williams. Outside of its native range, it is grown for its ornamental value.
