Costus dirzoi

Costus dirzoi is a member of the Costaceae family, a group of flowering plants commonly known as spiral flagers or heliconias. It is part of the genus Costus, which is characterized by spirally arranged leaves and showy bracts. This species is geographically restricted to the Mexico Gulf region, where it grows in its natural habitat. The scientific name was first published in 1991 by botanists García-Mend. & G.Ibarra, who formally described and named the species.
