Costus allenii is a species in the genus Costus, belonging to the family Costaceae. It was first described by Maas in 1972. The species is native to several regions in Colombia, including Antioquia, Chocó, Quindío, and Valle del Cauca, as well as other subregions such as Norte, Zona central, and Parque Nacional Natural Las Orquídeas. It is also found in Boyacá, Cauca, Cundinamarca, Meta, Nariño, Santander, and Tolima. Beyond Colombia, it occurs in Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, and Venezuela, including the area around Villavicencio.

Description

Costus allenii is a member of the Costaceae family and is distributed across several regions in South and Central America. In Colombia, it is recorded in Antioquia, Chocó, Quindío, and Valle del Cauca, as well as additional subregions such as Norte, Zona central, and Parque Nacional Natural Las Orquídeas. Its range also extends to Boyacá, Cauca, Cundinamarca, Meta, Nariño, Santander, and Tolima. The species is also present in neighboring countries, including Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, and Venezuela, with a specific mention of Villavicencio. The species was first described in 1972 by Maas.
