Coryanthes speciosa, known as the bat orchid, is a species of orchid native to several regions in South and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. It was first described in 1831 by Hooker and belongs to the Orchidaceae family.

Description

Coryanthes speciosa is a member of the Orchidaceae family and is distributed across Brazil, including the Northeast, North, Southeast, South, and West-Central regions, as well as French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad-Tobago, and Venezuela. It is also found in other parts of Central and South America, including Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, and Belize, as well as the Caribbean. This orchid species was first published in 1831 by Hooker.
