The plant typically grows in solitary clusters, though it can occasionally form clumps. It blooms with short-lived yellow flowers from April to July, followed by the production of green fruits.
Description
Coryphantha echinus, also referred to as sea urchin cactus or rhinoceros cactus, is a member of the Cactaceae family. This species is distributed in the Trans-Pecos region, extending to Del Rio, Chihuahua, and Coahuila. It is generally found in isolated groupings, though it may grow in clusters. The cactus produces yellow flowers that are short-lived, typically lasting only a few hours, and blooms between April and July. Following the flowering period, it develops green fruits.
