Cornus hongkongensis is an evergreen tree in the family Cornaceae, native to China, Laos, and Vietnam. It reaches up to 15 meters in height and produces fragrant flowers in late spring to early summer. The species shows morphological variation across its range and has been divided into several subspecies. It is valued as an ornamental tree.

Description

Cornus hongkongensis, described by Hemsl. in 1888, is part of the genus Cornus and belongs to the family Cornaceae. It is distributed in South-Central and Southeast China, as well as Laos and Vietnam. The tree is known for its fragrant blooms and is considered an excellent ornamental species. Its geographic variation has led to the recognition of multiple subspecies. This species is a significant component of the flora in its native range.
