Leitneria floridana, known as corkwood, is a deciduous dioecious shrub or small tree and the only species in the genus Leitneria. It is native to the southern United States, including Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, and Texas. The species belongs to the family Simaroubaceae and was first described in 1860.

Description

Leitneria floridana is a member of the Simaroubaceae family and is found exclusively in the southern U.S. It is a dioecious plant, meaning male and female flowers occur on separate individuals. The species was published in 1860 and is the only representative of its genus.
