Description
Ulmus thomasii, or cork elm, is a member of the Ulmaceae family. It is a deciduous tree that occurs in a range stretching from southern Ontario and Quebec, through the Midwestern United States, as far south as Tennessee and west to northeastern Kansas. The species is also present in New England and several other U.S. states. It is a native tree to this region and is distinguished by its specific ecological and morphological traits.
