Coprosma arborea is a tree species native to the North Island of New Zealand. It is known to the Māori as mamangi. The species has wind-pollinated flowers with inconspicuous petals, long anthers, and stigmas. Its fruit is a non-toxic, juicy berry with two small seeds. It is commonly found in the Hamilton Ecological District.

Description

Coprosma arborea, described by Kirk in 1878, belongs to the genus Coprosma in the Rubiaceae family. This species is indigenous to the North Island of New Zealand. The flowers are adapted for wind pollination, lacking showy petals but featuring elongated anthers and stigmas. The plant produces a fleshy, non-poisonous berry containing two seeds. It is typically found in the Hamilton Ecological District.
