Papaver rhoeas, known as the common poppy, is an annual flowering plant in the Papaveraceae family. It is native to north Africa and temperate Eurasia and has been introduced to temperate regions across other continents, excluding Antarctica. The plant is commonly found in areas such as British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and several islands in the Azores and Madeira. It was first described in 1753 by Linnaeus.

Papaver rhoeas is an annual herbaceous flowering plant in the poppy family, Papaveraceae. It is native to north Africa and temperate Eurasia and is now naturalized in temperate regions on all other continents except Antarctica. The species is commonly known as the common poppy and is found in regions such as British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and various islands in the Azores and Madeira. It was first published by Linnaeus in 1753.
