Description
Pellia epiphylla (L.) Corda, a member of the family Pelliaceae, is a widely distributed liverwort species. It is native to regions such as Québec, Labrador, the Azores, Madeira, Belgium, and parts of the United States. This liverwort is commonly found in moist habitats, particularly in areas with consistent water availability. It grows in patches and is adapted to a range of acidic or neutral substrates, including soil, rocks, and man-made surfaces. Its habitat includes riverbanks, stream banks, ditches, wet woodlands, and marshes. First described in 1829, it is a well-documented species within the bryophyte flora of the Northern Hemisphere.
