Mimetes cucullatus, known as Common Pagoda, is an evergreen shrub in the Proteaceae family. It has upright stems, typically 1–2 m tall, and is the most widespread and common species in its genus. It is found in the Cape Provinces and is adapted to a wide range of environmental conditions. The plant is also known as rooistompie in Afrikaans.

Description

Mimetes cucullatus (L.) R.Br. is a member of the Proteaceae family and is characterized by its upright, mostly non-branching stems that can reach up to 2 meters in height. It is the most common and widely distributed species of the genus Mimetes. The plant is native to the Cape Provinces and is known for its adaptability to various environmental conditions. It is commonly called Common Pagoda in English and rooistompie in Afrikaans. The species was first described in 1810.
