Description
Dryopteris filix-mas belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae and is part of the genus Dryopteris. It is distributed across various regions, including Portugal Continental, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Flanders, Vermont in the US, New Zealand, Falkland Islands, and several regions in Chile, Belgium, and Afghanistan. The species was published in 1834 under the authorship (L.) Schott. It is important to note that P. filix-mas is to be treated as such according to the nomenclatural rules, despite some confusion in type material identification.
