Clutia pulchella L., known as the common lightning bush, is a dioecious shrub belonging to the family Peraceae. It is native to southern Africa, where it is found in Botswana, Cape Provinces, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho, Mozambique, Northern Provinces, St. Helena, and Zimbabwe. The species was first described in 1753.

Description

Clutia pulchella is a member of the genus Clutia and is part of the Peraceae family. It is a dioecious shrub that grows at middle altitudes in regions across southern Africa. The species is distributed in Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Botswana, Lesotho, and South Africa. Prain discussed the original elements of the name in detail but did not designate a type. The plant is commonly referred to as the lightning bush.
