Spondias pinnata is a tree species in the Anacardiaceae family, known as common hog-plum. It is native to the Philippines and Indonesia but has spread naturally to regions such as South Asia, Mainland Southeast Asia, Southern China, and the Solomon Islands. It grows in lowland and hill forests up to 1,200 m elevation.
Description
Spondias pinnata (L.f.) Kurz is a tree producing edible, sour fruits. It was previously classified in the genus Mangifera. The species is found in Andaman Is., Assam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Caroline Is., China South-Central, China Southeast, East Himalaya, Hainan, India, Jawa, Laos, Lesser Sunda Is., Malaya, Maluku, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and other regions. It was first described in 1875.
