Description

Coldenia procumbens belongs to the family Coldeniaceae and is the only species in the genus Coldenia. It was published by Linnaeus in 1753. The genus is named after C. Colden. The species has a wide distribution across several biogeographic regions, including the Afrotropical, Neotropical, and Oriental (Indomalaya) regions. Specific locations where it occurs include the Andaman Islands, Angola, Assam, Bangladesh, Benin, Borneo, Burkina, Cambodia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Djibouti, East Himalaya, and Egypt. Kazmi, in a 1970 publication, cited 174.1 (LINN) as the type specimen, but this appears to be a post-1753 addition to the collection and not the original material for the name.
