Codia montana is a species in the genus Codia, family Cunoniaceae, native to New Caledonia. It was first described in 1776 by Johann Reinhold Forster and Georg Forster.

Description

Codia montana belongs to the Cunoniaceae family, a group of flowering plants primarily found in the Southern Hemisphere. The species is native to New Caledonia, an island nation in the southwest Pacific Ocean. It was formally described in 1776 by the German naturalist Johann Reinhold Forster and his son Georg Forster, who were notable for their botanical work during Captain James Cook's second voyage. The genus Codia includes several species, mostly from the Pacific region. Codia montana is part of the broader biodiversity of New Caledonia, a hotspot for endemic plant species.
