Clethra alnifolia, known as Coastal Sweet Pepperbush, is a deciduous shrub in the Clethraceae family. It is native to eastern North America, ranging from southern Nova Scotia and Maine to northern Florida and western to eastern Texas. This species thrives in wetlands, bogs, and near woodland streams.

Description

Clethra alnifolia (L.) is a species of flowering plant in the genus Clethra, belonging to the family Clethraceae. It is found in regions such as Nova Scotia, Belgium, the Flemish Region, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, and parts of the United States, including Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Mississippi. First published in 1753, this shrub is commonly known as Coastal Sweet Pepperbush and is adapted to moist habitats such as wetlands, bogs, and the banks of woodland streams.
