Description
Leucothoe axillaris is a member of the Ericaceae family and is native to several U.S. states, including Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Virginia. It typically grows in coastal floodplain habitats. The plant was first described in 1834 and is known by the common names coastal doghobble and swamp dog-laurel.
