Lycopus amplectens is a member of the Lamiaceae family and is native to North America. It is commonly referred to as Clasping Water Horehound. The species is distributed across several states, including Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and South Carolina. The plant was first described in 1840 by Raf. and is also known by the names sessile-leaved bugleweed and sessile-leaved water-horehound. Its native range extends from Massachusetts to northeastern Florida.
