Dillenia indica L. is a member of the Dilleniaceae family and is native to areas such as China South-Central, China Southeast, India, and other parts of tropical Asia. It typically grows along stony river banks. Specimens from the Ceylon and Burman herbaria are preserved in L, with one annotated in Sinhalese as 'Boo kerre.' The species was first described in 1753 and is also known as elephant apple or ou tenga.
