It is distributed across several regions including Japan, Korea, China (South-Central and Southeast), Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Taiwan, Java, and Sumatra. The species was published in 1902 and is part of the genus Chloranthus.

Description

Chloranthus spicatus (Thunb.) Makino is a member of the Chloranthaceae family and is commonly referred to as chulantree. Its geographic range includes Japan, Korea, South-Central and Southeast China, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Taiwan, Java, and Sumatra.
