Chrysochlamys nicaraguensis is a member of the Clusiaceae family, which is commonly known as the gutta-percha family. This species has a wide distribution across Central and South America, including countries such as Belize, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico (Gulf, Southeast, and Southwest regions), Nicaragua, and Panamá. It is also recorded in Parque Nacional Natural Los Katíos. The species was originally published in 1879 and is part of the genus Chrysochlamys. Its occurrence in multiple regions suggests a broad ecological adaptability within its native range.
