Chondrilla ramosissima is a species in the Asteraceae family, described by Sm. in 1813 and found in Greece, Kriti, and Macedonia. It is similar to Chondrilla juncea but distinguished by its divaricate branches, and stems and branches that may have a short, whitish tomentum and rigid hairs.

Description

Chondrilla ramosissima is a member of the Asteraceae family. It is native to Greece, Kriti, and Macedonia. The species resembles Chondrilla juncea, but differs in having divaricate branches. Its stems and sometimes branches are covered with a short, whitish tomentum and may have a few to numerous rigid hairs. Chondrilla juncea, for comparison, is a greyish-green biennial to perennial plant with stems that are usually solitary, 50-100 cm tall, and have numerous ascending branches. Its leaves are glabrous or have a few rigid hairs, and its capitula are numerous, with 9-12 florets. The species has a chromosome count of 2n=14+1B, 30.
