Description

Asystasia gangetica is a plant species in the Acanthaceae family. It is known by the common name Chinese violet and is also referred to as coromandel or creeping foxglove. In South Africa, it may be called asystasia. The species was described by T.Anderson in 1860. Heine, in Aubreville's Fl. Gabon, cited unspecified material in LINN as the holotype, but did not distinguish between sheets 28.27 and 28.28, which are not part of a single gathering, making the typification ineffective.
